Please pray for the Deaf in England. May they be reached with the Gospel of Christ. Brittany and I have had the wonderful opportunity to be in London today with Christian friends and to attend UK's largest Deaf Exhibition. Many contacts have been made with leaders in the Deaf community. Please pray for wisdom and guidance as we seek to glorify the Lord in this way.
Sunday, March 30th was Mothering Sunday here in England. Beeches Road Baptist Chapel held special services honoring all mothers. It was precious to hear the children's choir sing about their "mums." We passed out many leaflets on Saturday inviting people to the special services. As you know, you do not always see fruit immediately from passing out leaflets. We praise the Lord that a young family Brittany met on Saturday came for the first time on Sunday. A mom, her two children, her sister, and her nephew and niece were all picked up for Sunday School. It was the first time her niece and nephew had ever been to church. We are praying for this family that they will continue to come to church. We are not sure if they are Christians or not. It was so exciting to see first-time visitors come as a result of passing out tracts and flyers on Saturday! To God be all the honor and glory!
We have learned many British expressions and slang in the last month. As you can imagine, there have been many times of confusion and misunderstanding due to these differences. It's been such a blast picking up on these little things! Here are a few we've learned:
Last weekend we travelled 3 hours to Southend on Sea - a beautiful city on the sea (like its name says ). We were so encouraged by Pastor Chris Banks and his faithfulness to Lord. He has been the pastor here for many years. We were blessed by our door-to-door visits on Saturday morning. On one particular street, the people were so receptive that it seemed almost bizarre. Multiple times we were given the opportunity to take our Bible and share the plan of salvation. May the Lord continue to work in this town!
