Two weeks ago we travelled to Brighton, England and spent the weekend there at West Hill Baptist Chapel. It was here that Hudson Taylor had a life-changing experience and purposed in his heart to begin the China Inland Mission, which sent hundreds of missionaries to the provinces of China. Today, Brighton is often called the San Francisco of England. God is using Pastor Gillit in a mighty way in this wicked city.
Friday and Saturday were busy days full of passing out tracts in the town center, leafletting, observing in the ESL classes, helping with the youth rally, and attending the children's winter party. May God continue to bless West Hill Baptist Chapel!
On March 8th, Beeches Road Baptist Chapel held the first Regional Youth Rally of the year. Kendall Wadley, a dear friend and preacher from the United States, flew over to preach at the event. Many churches from surrounding areas brought their teenagers to the event. It was an evening of fellowship for the teens and recollection of the great heritage of this land. What an encouragement to hear teenagers testifying and singing praise to our God!
The past three weeks have been so surreal. We can hardly believe that we are here in the United Kingdom. Since we have arrived we have been busy getting our basic things for the house. The house we are staying in had a bed and a dining room table already in it. We have a place to eat and a place to sleep! We have been given a car to use. Now we can learn how to drive on the other side of the road, which I'm sure will be fun!
The coming months present a lot of learning. It is such a blessing to be able to start off at an established church like Beeches Road Baptist Chapel. Brittany has started her British Sign Language classes; her deaf teacher has shared different opportunities with her to be able to interact with the deaf in our surrounding area. Brittany and I have much to learn about how to effectively reach the United Kingdom with the Gospel but with God's help it will happen!
